Fenix 21700 5000 mAh rechargeable batteries with protected electronics are based on state-of-the-art LiNiCoO2 technology, which brings higher safety and longer life. Li-ion rechargeable batteries are characterized by a very high capacity, do not suffer from the memory effect or self-discharge. Fenix battery protection consists of internal safety mechanisms and protective electronics. Added electronic circuits prevent overcharging the cell, its excessive discharge and against short circuit or too high current consumption. If the battery electronics evaluate that the limit values have been reached, they will safely disconnect the cell.

The internal protection consists of a separator, state-of-the-art Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) and a special explosion-proof valve. In the event that the gas pressure in the cell exceeds a certain limit, the internal separator separates the electrodes inside the battery and thus de-facto interrupts the exothermic reaction and the explosion-proof valve releases the gas overpressure outside the accumulator.
