The shell of the helmet is made of durable plastic, making the construction both durable and lightweight. The indisputable advantage of the helmet is its great adjustability and adaptability to the user's head. This is made possible by a set of modular pads made of hard plastic and soft foam, which can be freely arranged inside the helmet thanks to Velcro straps. The four-point frontal belt with soft chin section, fastened with a Fastex fastener, also offers a wide range of adjustment. Another advantage of the headband is that it is made in a closed system, i.e. there are no loose, protruding adjustment straps. Circumference adjustment is done via a convenient wheel on the back of the helmet. The range of helmet adjustment is 55-61 cm.

Like many other helmets based on the FAST design, the X-Shield is equipped with a set of side mounting rails allowing the attachment of a range of other equipment such as goggles, tactical lighting, headsets etc. On the front of the helmet there is a plastic mounting and attachment cable to allow the installation of NVG systems. An extensive set of modular mounts and clips are included.

The attractiveness factor is certainly increased by the soft Velcro panels on the helmet, which allow the attachment of patches. The BJ helmet shell also has vents to improve ventilation and slightly reduce weight.
