How to choose tactical boots?

It is hard to do without tactical boots during airsoft and other tactical games, and outdoor sports. They are a great partner for you in difficult conditions, they keep your feet dry due to their high-quality and durable materials, and at the same time they protect your ankles. Today we will look at how to choose tactical boots that exactly fulfill their purpose so that you can fully devote yourself to the game.

What to consider when choosing

Before you make a choice, several things need to be clarified. In what environment will you wear the boots most often and how much water resistance will you need? Do you have a preferred material - leather or textile? Do you prefer a Czech or foreign brand? What are your financial options?

Last but not least, when trying on a pair of boots, you need to tell yourself whether they fit you comfortably, they rub anywhere, you have enough space for your toes, they are not too heavy, the pattern suits you, and you can walk well in them on different surfaces. Also, you need to evaluate the boot fastening and tongue design.

Leather, textile, or a combination?

It is not worth trying to save money on tactical boots – they are a long-term investment that, with proper use and care, will last for many years. Tactical boots are made either of leather, textile, or a combination of the two. Each of them has its pros and cons. For leather shoes, more demanding maintenance and higher financial costs need to be taken into account. At the same time, they are heavier than textile boots and have slightly less breathability. Compared to textile boots, however, they offer a significantly longer service life, higher water resistance, and they withstand more mechanical wear.

Textile tactical boots are more cost-effective and easier to maintain. At the same time, they have a higher degree of breathability, thanks to which your feet will not get as hot in them. However, they are not as mechanically resistant as leather shoes and are usually less waterproof. Therefore, tactical boots combining textile and leather can be a good compromise – you should check how many seams they have (the more seams, the more moisture can penetrate the boot).

The material of the insides of the boots must also be looked at. For tactical boots, it is generally advisable to choose a textile interior in combination with a functional membrane (e.g., Gore-Tex, Sympatex, or Blackhawk), which increases water resistance and at the same time wicks sweat away from the shoe.

How to take care of tactical boots

In order for your tactical boots to serve you for a long time and to be a sufficient support for you even in the most demanding terrain, it is necessary to pay regular attention to them. Naturally, you need to take care of leather boots differently than textile boots, but it is always true that you should let them properly dry after each event and use a dry brush to remove any dirt or mud. Leather boots should then be treated with beeswax (but petroleum jelly will suffice) so that the leather does not crack and retains its exceptional properties. Also, do not forget to use an appropriate waterproofing product.

So now you know what to consider when choosing tactical boots. However, if you are still unsure, don’t hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to advise you and help you choose the boots that will exactly suit your requirements.
